Sharing SSTV IPTV across the household

Your plan comes with one screen, and you can raise it to 5 so several people can watch different things at the same moment. Here’s how the count works, what it costs and how to pick the right number.

  5. Questions families ask

Ask any family what causes most arguments about television and you’ll hear the same answer: one screen, several opinions. Every SSTV IPTV plan can have several screens, so the football, the cartoons and the series can all play at once on different devices.

A screen means a stream, not a device

Installing SSTV IPTV on a phone, two TVs and a laptop is fine; you can sign in on as many devices as you like. What the plan limits is how many of them play at the same moment. Every subscription starts with one screen, and when you order you can choose any number up to 5.

Count one screen for each of these:

  • a device playing a channel, a replay or a film;
  • every window open in a multi-view layout;
  • a recording that is running while you watch something else.

The cost of extra screens

Screens are priced as a share of the plan: each one beyond the first adds 45%. For a household that streams on three devices, that’s much cheaper than three subscriptions. A year with each option:

12 months: price by number of screens
Devices at the same timePricePer month
1 device$99$8.25
2 devices$143.55$11.96
3 devices$188.10$15.67
4 devices$232.65$19.38
5 devices$277.20$23.10

Every screen uses the same details and stops on the same date as the plan.

Working out your number

Picture your busiest evening in a typical week. Who is watching, and on which devices, at the same time? That figure is the one to buy. A couple who watch together and occasionally use a tablet need two; a family with teenagers might need three or four. Remember the person who watches matches on a phone at the gym.

Bandwidth for several streams

Plan for roughly 20 Mbps per Full HD stream, so three simultaneous streams want about 60 Mbps reaching your home. Wire the busiest TV to the router and keep 4K for one screen on crowded evenings. The stable streaming page covers the rest.

Questions families ask

What if a fourth person starts watching on a three-screen plan?

The extra stream won’t play, or one of the others will stop. Close the app on a device no one is looking at and try again.

Can I use screens in two homes?

Screens are for one household, including its members’ phones and tablets when they’re away from home.

How do I change my number of screens?

Choose a new number when you renew. If you need extra screens before then, get in touch with your order number.
