Apple’s phones, tablets and TV box can’t run TiviMate, so they need another player from Apple’s store. Nothing else changes: the same SSTV IPTV details go into whichever app you choose.
Choosing an iOS player
App Store players come and go, so rather than naming one that might disappear, our welcome email recommends the player we’re currently using with customers. Whatever you choose, look for:
- Xtream Codes or M3U login support, so it accepts your details;
- a TV guide (EPG), so you can see what’s on;
- catch-up support, if you like replays;
- a free trial before any in-app purchase.
On the iPhone and iPad
A handset or tablet is perfect for the commute, the kitchen counter or late nights in bed. Sign-in usually takes two minutes: add a new playlist or user, choose the Xtream type, then paste the server, username and password from My subscription. The iPhone install guide shows each step.
Apple TV
The Apple TV version of these players brings the guide to the big screen. Entering a long server address with the Siri Remote is painful, so favour an app that lets you scan a code and type on your phone instead. For the best picture, turn on Match Content (both dynamic range and frame rate) in the Apple TV video settings.
AirPlay
AirPlay can push a stream from your iPhone onto a compatible television. It’s fine in a pinch; a player installed on the Apple TV itself is steadier.
Questions from Apple users
Is there an official SSTV IPTV app?
No. SSTV IPTV works with independent players; that’s what lets you choose the one you prefer on each device.
Do iOS players cost money?
Some are free with ads; some ask for a modest one-off or yearly fee after a trial, paid to their developer rather than to SSTV IPTV.
Can I use my iPhone and TV at the same time?
Yes, provided your plan has a screen for each.
