The first evening with a new TV service can feel like moving into a furnished flat: everything’s there, but nothing is where you’d put it. Rather than tweaking every setting at once, spread the work over a week. Each day below takes ten to twenty minutes.

Day 1: test every device you’ll use

Do this first, and do it today. Our refund policy gives you 24 hours from activation to tell us if SSTV IPTV won’t work on a device, so the first evening is when to find out.

  • Install the right player on each screen with the install guides: TiviMate on Fire OS and Google TV, SS IPTV on LG, the recommended player elsewhere.
  • Sign in with the details from your activation email or My subscription.
  • On each device, play a news channel, a sports channel and a film for a couple of minutes each.

If something won’t play, open a ticket straight away, naming the device and the app.

Day 2: shrink the channel list

A full line-up is more than anyone needs. TiviMate lets you hide whole groups from the playlist’s settings, so untick every country or theme you’ll never watch. Then long-press OK on your ten or twenty everyday channels to add them to favourites. Zapping through a short list is what makes IPTV feel like normal television.

Day 3: make the guide trustworthy

Open the TV guide and check three channels against what’s really on air. If the listings are an hour out, adjust the guide offset or time zone in your player; if a channel shows “No information”, refresh the guide data. The steps for TiviMate are in our article on getting more from the TV guide.

Day 4: try catch-up

Pick a channel showing the archive symbol, move back in the guide to something from yesterday and play it. Then try “play from start” on a programme already running. Once you’ve seen catch-up work, you stop worrying about missing things. Our explainer covers why some channels keep longer archives than others.

Day 5: test at the worst possible moment

Watch the most demanding thing you care about, a live match ideally, at the busiest time of the evening. If it stutters, work through the buffering checklist. Most fixes are at home: a cable instead of Wi-Fi, a router restart, fewer devices downloading at once.

Day 6: bring the rest of the household in

Add SSTV IPTV to the other screens your plan covers, and remember the limit: each simultaneous stream uses one of your plan’s devices. If more people want to watch at the same time than your plan allows, choose more screens on your next order or renewal.

Day 7: two notes for later

  • Your end date, shown in My subscription. We email a reminder three days before, but a note in your own calendar does no harm.
  • Your details. Archive the activation email somewhere you’ll find it, or simply remember that everything is always in your account.

A week on

By now SSTV IPTV should feel like ordinary television: a short channel list, a reliable guide, replays when you need them. If one thing still annoys you, tell us; plenty of improvements to our guides began as a customer’s complaint.

Questions

Can I test on more devices than my plan includes?

You can install it anywhere, but only as many screens as your plan includes can play at once. Test them one after another.

When does the refund window start?

When your line is switched on and the details are sent, which is the time on your activation email.

I’m happy after a week. Should I move to a longer plan?

If you’re sure, a longer plan lowers the monthly cost. Our article on plan lengths helps you choose.
